William Bowen Rogers - Fine Artist
William Bowen Rogers was born at home, in Happy, Texas on July 1, 1934. It was in the middle of the Great Depression and the infamous Dust Bowl. In 1946 the Rogers family moved to Oklahoma and Bill earned a BFA degree from Oklahoma University in 1956. The art style of the time was abstract expressionism. Among his instructors were several fine artists including John O'Neil, Eugene Bavinger and Emelio Amero. After graduation, Bill moved to Dallas, worked in an animation studio, served two years in the U.S. Army Pictorial Center in Long Island City, N.Y. then returned to Dallas where much of his work career was spent as Broadcast Director (Radio and Television) for two of the Southwest's largest advertising agencies. Bill is devoted to his family which includes his wife, two grown children and spouses, and two grown step-children and their spouses, and 8 grandchildren for which he is most grateful and thankful to the Lord. The past 30 years have flown by, spending most of his time writing and producing numerous award winning videos, documentaries and audio tracks for Museums around the country.
Artist Statement
In the time I've devoted to painting, my art has been exhibited in the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, The Irving Art Museum, and art galleries in Dallas and Carmel California. I have sold paintings to collectors from Boston to San Francisco, Kansas City, Dallas, and New Mexico. My approach to painting is somewhat eclectic (or perhaps eccentric). I consider my creations of art, a conversation between my soul and the viewer's.
